Job summary

WVRC Ozaukee, a 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital, seeks a Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced, collaborative team in Ozaukee, WI. You’ll care for a diverse caseload and work 4 ten-hour shifts weekly, with every other weekend and some holidays required.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus for Certified technicians and $3,000 for experienced assistants are offered. Join a team focused on mentorship, growth, and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Certified Veterinary Technicians will be given the highest consideration.
• Experienced Veterinary Assistants are welcome to apply.
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
• Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all tasks and projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral; teamwork encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and document patient vital signs and activity.
• Support veterinarians and assist other departments as requested.
• Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care.
• Perform basic, emergent and critical care anesthetic monitoring.
• Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing.
• Perform laboratory procedures including blood typing and cross matching.
• Take and process radiographs with radiation safety protocols.
• Maintain medical equipment and professional client communication.
• Keep hospital areas clean, safe, and confidential.
• Meet WVRC performance standards and attendance expectations.

Location: Ozaukee, WI

Schedule: Full Time | 1st Shift | 4 Ten Hour Shifts per week | Every Other Weekend | Some Holidays Will Be Required

Compensation: $20-30/hr (Commensurate With Experience)

Sign on bonus - $5000 for Certified Veterinary Technicians, $3000 for Experienced Veterinary Assistants!

In Your Day-to-day, You Will

• Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
• Provide support to all veterinarians and assist other departments as requested
• Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
• Perform basic, emergent and critical care anesthetic monitoring
• Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
• Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching and slide agglutination testing
• Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
• Properly use and maintain medical equipment
• Provide professional client communication
• Demonstrates an ability and awareness to keep hospital areas clean and neat, maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Required to maintain client and patient confidentiality
• Meet or exceed performance standards for work quality and productivity
• Meet or exceed WVRC expectations for attendance and punctuality
