Job summary

WVRC Ozaukee is a 24/7 emergency and critical care hospital seeking a Veterinary Technician for the 2nd shift. You'll monitor patients, assist veterinarians, provide anesthesia monitoring, lab work, and radiographs in a fast-paced setting while maintaining client communication and hospital cleanliness.

The role offers a full-time schedule of four ten-hour shifts per week, every other weekend, with some holidays. Compensation is $20-30/hr plus shift differentials and a $5k sign-on bonus for CVTs.

Qualifications

• Certified Veterinary Technicians preferred; CVT certification highly regarded.
• Experience in emergency/critical care settings encouraged.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient vital signs and activity, ensuring observations are documented.
• Support veterinarians and assist other departments as needed.
• Deliver compassionate care including diagnostic, surgical, and nursing tasks for all patients, including critical cases.
• Perform basic, emergency, and critical care anesthetic monitoring.
• Collect and prepare samples for diagnostics (blood draws, ABG, cystocentesis, catheter sampling, urine collection).
• Perform lab procedures (blood typing, crossmatching, slide agglutination).
• Obtain and process radiographs (abdomen, thorax, appendicular, spinal, skull) with safety protocols.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment.
• Communicate with clients professionally.
• Maintain clean, organized hospital areas and safety.
• Maintain client and patient confidentiality.
• Meet performance standards and attendance expectations.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including but not limited to blood typing, crossmatching, and slide agglutination testing
• Accurately obtain and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while adhering to appropriate radiation safety protocols
• Properly operate, care for, and maintain medical equipment
• Communicate with clients in a professional and compassionate manner
• Help maintain clean, organized hospital areas and a safe, sanitary work environment
• Maintain client and patient confidentiality at all times
• Meet or exceed established performance standards for quality and productivity
• Meet or exceed WVRC expectations for attendance and punctuality
