Job summary

The ASPCA's Community Veterinary Clinic in the Bronx seeks a licensed Veterinary Technician to join a high-volume spay/neuter and preventive care program. You will work on-site with CM veterinarians and assistants, performing injections, anesthesia support, exams, data entry, and client communication while upholding compassionate care for underserved communities.

NY license required; ability to lift 40+ pounds; English required (Spanish preferred).

Qualifications

• Must have NY State Veterinary Technician license or able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Excellent animal handling skills (cats, dogs).
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience using a computer and navigating software applications.
• Able to lift and carry 40+ pounds repeatedly; stand 8+ hours.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; stay calm under pressure.
• Fear Free Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire.
• Exemplify ASPCA core values and behavioral competencies.

Responsibilities

• Care for 35-40 cats and dogs per day in spay/neuter surgery.
• Administer injections including anesthetics, pain medications, vaccinations and other meds.
• Intubate animals, place IV catheters, venipuncture, and administer fluids.
• Monitor vital signs in pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases.
• Provide treatments and supportive care per CM SOPs as directed by the attending Veterinarian.
• Maintain patient records and controlled substance logs.
• Assist with training and collaborate with colleagues.
