Job summary

Abqpetcarehospital offers a veterinary externship for students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical skills. Participants will work alongside supervising veterinarians, learning to perform physical exams, assist in surgeries, and create treatment plans which directly impact patient care.

This externship typically lasts between two and eight weeks, available to all veterinary students regardless of their academic year. A stipend for travel and living expenses may also be provided.

Job description

Cascade Animal Clinic is offering a veterinary externship, where students will work closely with a supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients.

Externship experiences typically last between two and eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules, and are available to all veterinary students regardless of class year.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend.

• Students will practice clinical skills in preventative care, surgery, dentistry, urgent care, and medical workups.
• They will also develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
