Job summary

Axess Family Services, Inc. is seeking an Employment Specialist for the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program in Portage County. This full-time role focuses on career exploration, training, and job placement to help veterans secure employment in high-demand occupations with wages aligned to local markets.

You will work with the program team to assess needs, create Individual Employment Plans, build local employer relationships, and ensure accurate documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

• College coursework preferred with a preference for those pursuing a degree in social work or related field.
• Experience with the issues of homelessness, domestic violence, chemical dependency, mental health preferred. Experience working with veterans preferred.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and apply best practice models as appropriate.
• Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation)

Responsibilities

• Provides program orientation to all interested veterans.
• Travels to community locations to outreach to veterans.
• Conducts program screening to determine eligibility and placement.
• Creates Individual Employment Plan (IEP) with each eligible veteran.
• Develops relationships with employers to create employment opportunities for veterans.
• Maintains confidential client files and records.
• Completes proper documentation and reporting procedures.
• Complies with agency policies, COA regulations, and relevant requirements.
