Job summary

Dept of Veterans Services in Virginia is seeking a Veterans Services Representative to support veterans, dependents, and families by ensuring they receive earned benefits, quality care, and recognition for their service. You will advocate for and assist in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of veterans' claims for benefits they are entitled to.

The role requires knowledge of veterans' benefits laws, ability to interpret complex regulations, strong oral and written communication,

Qualifications

Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits preferred.
Experience with the military and/or military veteran communities.
Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations and apply to casework.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Customer service and public speaking skills.
Some overnight travel and regular community outreach including some weekends or holidays is required.

Responsibilities

Serve Virginia’s veterans, their dependents and family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through their service and sacrifice.
To advocate for and assist veterans and their dependents in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of all lawful and ethical veterans claims for benefits to which they are entitled.
To educate veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government.
