Job summary

Dept of Veterans Services seeks a Veterans Service Representative to help Virginia’s veterans secure earned benefits and services. You will advocate for veterans and their families in preparing, presenting, and pursuing lawful claims, ensuring access to quality care and recognition.

The role involves educating veterans about available state and federal programs and conducting outreach to promote the department’s services. Some travel to outreach events is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits is preferred.
• Experience with the military and/or military veteran communities.
• Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations and apply to casework.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Customer service and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve Virginia’s veterans, their dependents and family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned through their service and sacrifice.
• Advocate for and assist veterans and their dependents in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of all lawful and ethical veterans claims benefits to which they are entitled.
• Educate veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government.
• Conduct outreach to promote the Department of Veterans Services and the programs offered.
