Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Housing Navigator in Owensboro, KY to support the SSVF program and help end homelessness among Veterans. You will work with VA HUD-VASH teams to connect Veterans with landlords and community partners, promoting long-term housing stability and trauma-informed, culturally inclusive services.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, strong communication, and willingness to travel up to 90% within the service area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field; or substantial related experience if no degree.
• Ability to access local resources, advocate, and work with local service providers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, high organization, and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between HUD-VASH teams and SSVF to coordinate housing resources.
• Advocate with public housing authorities.
• Build partnerships with community partners and agencies to increase housing access.
• Identify housing resources and conduct outreach to Veterans.
• Understand barriers in urban and rural areas to better serve clients.
