Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States in Owensboro, KY seeks a Housing Case Manager I to support veterans and families facing housing instability under the VOA Honor program. You will navigate housing resources, coordinate services, and advocate for participants to achieve sustainable housing.

Responsibilities include building partnerships with landlords and service providers, applying HUD-VASH and Section 8 programs, and delivering trauma-informed, culturally inclusive case management to diverse

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with up to five years experience, or five years with no degree, or a veteran with three years of related work experience.
• Ability to assess family needs, access local resources, advocate, counsel, and work cooperatively with local service providers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, highly organized, creative problem-solving.
• Must have personal automobile, valid driver’s license, liability insurance, and be willing and able to travel up to 70% of the time.
• Must complete CTI training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Build partnerships with community partners, service providers, and government agencies to acknowledge that institutional and structural racism restricts housing opportunities for people of color experiencing homelessness.
• Demonstrate ability to work with Veteran families and diverse cultural backgrounds with sensitivity to housing needs.
• Remove barriers to housing and provide equitable, secure housing for Veterans and families.
• Explain, interpret, and apply HUD-VASH and Section 8 programs.
• Advocate for Veterans and liaise with landlords, rental agencies, and service providers.
• Read and explain rental contracts to ensure fairness and understanding.
