Job summary

Cox Enterprises is seeking a Title Clerk to process and re-assign vehicle titles from auctions, verify accuracy, and ensure compliance with state requirements. You will handle lien releases, VIN verification, and assess title negotiability while coordinating with customers, dealers, and regulators.

The role involves resolving titling issues, staying current with DMV regulations across states, and supporting sale day transactions and reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 3 years' related experience.
• OR combination with higher degree/cert and up to 1 year of related experience; OR 5 years' related experience.

Responsibilities

• Process and re-assign titles for vehicles sold by the auction.
• Examine vehicle title for accuracy and conformity to requirements; verify state acceptance, VIN, odometer, lien releases, and absence of alterations.
• Determine negotiability of title and assess for potential fraud; report discrepancies.
• Resolve titling issues by contacting customers, dealers, and regulators; negotiate price adjustments when needed.
• Stay updated on DMV laws and interpret titling regulations for states processed.
• Receive and route calls to appropriate personnel.
• Perform duties like processing sale day transactions using AS400 and customer service.
• Run outstanding title reports; contact sellers about titles.
• Issue gate passes for no-sale vehicles and purchases.
• Assist with sale day balancing activities.
• Run 15-day reports for consignment vehicles; match invoices; obtain titles.
• Assist with title and check audits.
• Demonstrate safety commitment and participate in safety activities.
