Cox Automotive in Mount Juliet, TN is seeking a titles clerk to process and re-assign vehicle titles for auctioned vehicles. You will verify title accuracy, confirm VINs, odometer readings, lien releases, and ensure compliance with state filing requirements.

The role involves resolving titling issues with customers, dealers, and regulators, staying current with DMV regulations, handling calls, and supporting sale day transactions and title reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
• Or combination of higher degree/certification and up to 1 year of experience; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Basic computer software skills required.
• Vision abilities: close, distance and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Process and re-assign titles for vehicles sold by the auction.
• Examine vehicle title for accuracy and conformity to state requirements; verify VIN, odometer, lien releases, and no alteration.
• Determine negotiability of title and assess for potential fraud; report discrepancies.
• Resolve titling issues with customers, dealers, and regulators; negotiate price adjustments if needed.
• Stay current on DMV laws and titling regulations for processing states.
• Receive and route calls to appropriate personnel; provide courteous service.
• Assist with sale day transactions using the AS400 and customer service.
• Run outstanding title reports and contact sellers about titles.
• Issue gate passes for no-sale vehicles and purchases.
• Assist with sale day balancing activities.
• Run 15-day outstanding title reports and verify titles in system.
