Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks an experienced mechanical/spaceflight engineer to lead design, analysis, and qualification of New Glenn components. You will own lifecycle activities for valves, regulators, accumulators, actuators, and pumps, ensuring robust performance under demanding launch conditions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with suppliers and internal teams, a strong focus on quality, and leadership to meet safety and mission requirements for spaceflight programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years designing fluid, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems for aerospace/high-reliability.
  • Proficiency in Creo and ANSYS; experience with GD&T ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of valves, regulators, accumulators, mechanisms, pumps.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; passion for safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee lifecycle of component systems from requirements to post-flight serviceability.
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and performance targets are met through planning.
  • Procure and integrate high-quality components with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Perform sizing, material selection, and analyses under pressure and vibration.
  • Support fabrication, installation, and testing of flight hardware with suppliers.
  • Contribute to design, layouts, drafting, manufacturing, and test planning.
