Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design, analysis, development, and qualification of flight-critical valve assemblies and fluid components for the New Glenn program. You will define requirements, interfaces, and ensure mission success through a full product lifecycle.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical baselines and verification plans, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver high-reliability hardware for cryogenic and high-pressure systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of proven experience designing fluid, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems for aerospace or similar high-reliability applications.
• Lead Engineer, Responsible Engineer (RE), or Technical Authority for delivered flight hardware.
• Deep expertise in valve actuation, sealing (cryogenic/high-pressure), and fluid transient behavior.
• Experience leading RCCA/RCCA investigations and qualification test campaigns.
• Proficiency in Creo, ANSYS, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and design authority for flight-critical valve assemblies throughout the product lifecycle.
• Architect and analyze complex valve mechanisms, including material choice and seal design.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through fabrication, installation, and test of flight hardware.
• Define technical baseline, milestones, verification matrices, and risk burndown plans.
• Lead anomaly investigations and RCCA for test and flight hardware failures.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical rigor, safety, and operational excellence.
• Define design standards, review checklists, and qualification methodologies for valve engineering.
