Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced mechanical/aerospace engineer to lead component-system design, analysis, and qualification for the New Glenn program. You will oversee lifecycle stages from requirements through post‑flight serviceability and ensure delivery against tight cost, schedule, and performance targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 8+ years designing fluid, mechanical, or electro‑mechanical systems for aerospace or high‑reliability apps.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
  • Experience creating engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of valves, regulators, accumulators, mechanisms, or pumps.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration.
  • Passion for safe human spaceflight and alignment with Blue Origin’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of component systems, from requirements through design, development, assembly, verification, qualification testing, operation, and post-flight serviceability.
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and performance targets are achieved through planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to integrate high‑quality components.
  • Perform sizing, material selection, and analyses (fluid flow, thermal, structural) for performance under loads.
  • Support fabrication, installation, and testing of flight hardware with suppliers and support orgs.
  • Contribute to all aspects of mechanical design, including layouts, modeling, drafting, and test planning.
