Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced valve engineering lead to design, analyze, and qualify flight-critical valve assemblies for the New Glenn program. You will guide cross-functional teams through development, testing, and post-flight serviceability with emphasis on safety and reliability.

The role requires deep expertise in cryogenic/high-pressure actuation, RCCA, and 3D CAD/FEA tools; senior leadership and mentoring are essential. WA-based on-site work with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 12+ years designing fluid, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems for aerospace or similar high-reliability applications.
• Lead Engineer/RE/Technical Authority for delivered flight hardware.
• Deep expertise in valve actuation, dynamic/static sealing, cryogenic/high-pressure regimes.
• Experience in RCCA/FRB and qualification test campaigns (vibration, thermal vacuum, life cycle).
• Proficiency in Creo, ANSYS, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and design authority for flight-critical valve assemblies across the full product lifecycle.
• Architect and analyze complex valve mechanisms for cryogenic and high-pressure regimes.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams through fabrication, installation, and testing with suppliers and milestones.
• Drive integrated project delivery, baselines, schedules, verification, and risk burndown.
• Lead anomaly investigations, MRB dispositions, and RCCA for test/flight hardware failures.
• Mentor engineers and define design standards and qualification methodologies.
