Job summary

The City of Newberg Oregon is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance tasks across water, wastewater, storm drainage, streets, grounds, and facilities. You will operate equipment, perform repairs, and assist various Public Works divisions as needed.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related experience; a valid Oregon driver’s license is required, with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL Permit within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in construction, operation and/or maintenance of water, wastewater, or stormwater systems.
• Valid State Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain within six months: Class A CDL Permit.
• Within 18 months: First Aid/CPR/AED, Flagger’s Card, Trench Safety, Forklift, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Bucket Truck, and CDL Class A with tanker endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Performs labor in construction and maintenance of storm, street, water, wastewater, grounds, and facility systems.
• Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and tools.
• Drives trucks and operates tractors, mowers and loaders as assigned.
• Maintains records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Responds to leaks, spills, and system issues and communicates with PW Maintenance Lead.
