Job summary

The City of Beaverton is seeking a full-time Utility Technician in the Public Works Storm Maintenance Division to maintain stormwater systems and prevent flooding. This role involves hands-on field work with construction, utilities, and equipment operation, and requires DOT safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and
• 3 years of experience in operations, installation, construction, repair, and maintenance of street structures
• An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair utility lines.
• Set up traffic control safety zones and perform flagging functions.
• Inspect and test lines using a variety of equipment and chemicals.
• Assist equipment operator with operation of equipment and install cutting attachments and field repairs.
• Maintain equipment and tools.
• Assist in maintenance and installation of Vegetated Water Quality Facilities.
• Set up shoring and enter confined spaces; keep records of confined space entry and equipment.
• Update GIS maps used in the field.
