Job summary

Pearce Services in Houston, TX is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician I (Utility-Scale / PV Repair) to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ground-mount solar systems and central/string inverters at utility-scale sites.

This 100% travel role requires rigorous safety practices and on-site adherence to OSHA/NFPA 70E standards, with thorough documentation of service logs and work orders. Competitive hourly wages plus full benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of utility-scale solar experience (solar farms / ground-mount systems).
• Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar).
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills (inverters, DC systems, power electronics).
• Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work.
• Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Experience using multimeters, megger, amp clamps, and testing equipment.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
• Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans
• Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility-scale solar plants
• Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality and safety standards
• Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site
• Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field
• Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools
