Job summary

Pearce Services in San Diego, CA is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician II for utility-scale PV systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ground-mount solar farms, inverter systems, and related equipment, ensuring safe, on-schedule operations.

This 100% travel role requires 3+ years of utility-scale experience, OSHA/NFPA70E knowledge, and hands-on proficiency with testing gear. Pearce offers a comprehensive benefits package and a company vehicle, with wages $28–$40 per hour

Qualifications

• 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience on solar farms.
• Experience with megawatt-scale PV systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with Solar O&M / maintenance work.
• Working knowledge of OSHA/NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Experience using testing equipment (multimeters, meggers, clamps).
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems.
• Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger testing, IR scans.
• Assign work, track progress, and keep jobs on schedule.
• Perform O&M on utility-scale solar plants.
• Inspect completed work and ensure quality and safety.
• Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site.
• Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field.
• Complete work orders, service logs, and documentation.
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools.
• Train and support junior technicians in the field.
