Job summary

Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) is seeking an engineer to develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and bill of materials for complex utility infrastructure projects across generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecom facilities.

The role involves field engineering, coordination with internal/external customers, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. A technical degree and CAD proficiency are required, with willingness to work extended hours including during storms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent, 0–3 years of technical experience, or 5–7 years non-degree alternative.
• TECH test completed (bachelor in engineering exempts TECH test).
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical/mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for complex systems related to utility infrastructure.
• Coordinate with teams on New Business installations, removals and relocations.
• Interpret engineering standards and memos and apply them to projects.
• Participate in design reviews and support field operations during storms or emergencies.
