Job summary

Exelon Corporation in Illinois seeks an engineer to develop designs, layouts, construction drawings and a bill of materials for utility infrastructure projects, including generation, transmission and distribution.

You will perform field engineering, coordinate with internal and external customers, apply engineering standards, and support New Business projects, sometimes requiring extended hours or 24x7 coverage during storms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 0–3 years experience, or related combinations.
• Successful completion of the TECH test (engineering degree exempts).
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles.
• Proficient CAD drawing and design skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. (80%)
• Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos. (10%)
• Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes. (5%)
• Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes. Participates on teams. (5%)
