Job summary

Exelon Corporation in Joliet, IL is seeking a professional engineer to develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for utility infrastructure projects across generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecom facilities.

The role includes field engineering and coordinating with internal and external customers. You may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 storm coverage, to support safe and reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 0–3 years of technical experience, or associate’s degree with 2–5 years, or 5–7 years if non-degreed.
• Successful completion of TECH test (engineering degree exempts).
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
• Proficient CAD skills and drawing interpretation.
• Valid driver’s license and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs, layouts, drawings, and BOMs for complex utility projects.
• Interpret and apply engineering standards and memos.
• Provide technical consultation and validate studies against engineering principles.
• Evaluate design processes and participate on project teams.
