Job summary

Exelon is seeking a design/engineering professional for utility infrastructure projects in the Joliet, IL area. You will develop designs, drawings, and bills of materials for complex systems, and coordinate with teams for installation, removal, or modification of transmission and distribution facilities.

The role requires a technical degree and CAD proficiency, with 0–7 years of experience. You’ll work under a lead engineer, with potential extended hours during storms or energy emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent education/experience.
• Tech test completion required (bachelor's exempts the TECH test).
• Ability to analyze electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of problem-solving approaches and applicable standards/practices.
• Proficient CAD skills and familiarity with construction/engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and BOMs for complex utility infrastructure projects.
• Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos.
• Provides technical consultation and recommendations for customer and company systems.
• Evaluates design processes and participates in teams for high voltage transmission and distribution work.
