Job summary

Exelon is seeking a design engineer to develop construction drawings and BOMs for utility infrastructure across generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecom facilities. You will perform field engineering and coordinate with internal and external customers, with potential extended hours for storms or emergencies.

Minimum qualifications include a technical degree with up to 7 years of experience, proficiency in CAD, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 0-3 years of experience, or an associate's degree with 2-5 years, or 5-7 years of related experience.
Successful completion of the TECH test (bachelor's in engineering exempts this).
Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
Proficient CAD skills (Computer Aided Design).
Valid driver's license.
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon’s electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. (80%)
Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos. (10%)
Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices) (5%)
Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes. Participates on teams; (e.g. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria) (5%)
