Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of water, wastewater, traffic signals and city owned fiber in the City of Rowlett
• Ability to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes
• Familiarity with occupational safety and health rules and procedures
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to plan and coordinate work site activities
• Capacity to resolve customer complaints and concerns
• Ability to write reports and summaries with proper grammar and formatting
• Competence in reading utility as-builts and basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Locates underground City infrastructure by marking utilities with flags and paint markings (water lines, sewer lines, traffic devices, city fiber)
• Marks location of existing water and wastewater mains using field experience and civil as-built plats, site plans, utility plans and maps
• Recommends updates to civil plats, site plans and utility maps to indicate utility locations and related appurtenances
• Coordinates with contractors and field crews to determine water shutdowns and arrange excavations or repairs with minimal service disruption
• Provides accurate information on water and wastewater line locations and taps to property owners
• Assists with directing field crews in installing new water and wastewater services
• Maintains records of labor, equipment and material costs for utility repairs and improvements
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains professional working relationships
