The City of Rowlett, Texas is hiring a Water Meter Reader to support the water billing system. Under supervision, you will read water meters, locate meters, shut off or reconnect service as needed, and assist in maintenance of meter systems, ensuring accurate consumption data for billing.

You will also perform diagnostics, manage warranty parts, and prepare regular reports. The role requires physical stamina, ability to follow instructions, and a valid driver's license, with a 4-day work week

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; water meter experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and read reports.
• Must reside within proximity to City Hall and maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Read water meters to determine water consumption for billing.
• Locate buried meters and operate shutdowns for non-payment and service reconnection.
• Maintain meter and radio read systems, including minor repairs and inventory checks.
• Run diagnostics to ensure meters and electronics function correctly and manage warranty parts.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly reports as directed by supervisor.
• Attend to safety procedures and collaborate with crew and public.
• Support 4-day work week schedule and standard hours as posted.
