Job summary

City of Winston-Salem seeks an intermediate clerical/technical worker to process issuance of utility bills under limited supervision by the Senior Financial Analyst. Responsibilities include auditing data, detecting anomalies, correcting billing errors, and supporting the Water Utilities team with billing and financial recordkeeping.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with moderate experience in billing, customer service, bookkeeping and maintaining financial records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and moderate experience with billing, customer service, bookkeeping and maintaining financial records, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Audits and processes account and meter reading data before and after billing to ensure accuracy.
  • Detects anomalies in reading, consumption, meter data and takes action.
  • Identifies and corrects billing errors; may train other employees; works with the public as needed.
  • Verifies locations using Forsyth County tax information.
  • Assists in preparing complex water system records for presentation to the Financial Accounting System.
  • Explains billing system data and adjusts bills per city policies.
  • Makes decisions based on standard office policy and assists Customer Service Clerks.
  • Collaborates with Water Services Inspectors and Meter Shop staff on special projects.
