Job summary

City of Garland is seeking a utility service technician to connect, disconnect, and manage meters for customers moving in or out or with delinquent accounts. The role includes meter reading, re-reading on request, and ensuring service continuity in Garland, TX.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in meter reading or field operations, with a valid Texas driver''s license. Class D water license is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 2 years in meter reading and/or field operations.
• 2–4 years in meter reading and electric utility industry preferred.
• Valid Class C Texas driver''s license is required; Class D water license is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Disconnect and reconnect electric/water services.
• Install sleeves on back terminal ends of meter.
• Accurately read water/electric meters and re-read upon request.
• Re-check all disconnected utilities as needed.
• May perform Field Service Technician I duties as needed.
• May train new hires on field service operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
