Job summary

City of Garland is seeking a Utilities Service Technician to connect, disconnect, and reconnect electric and water services for customers moving in or out, or with delinquent accounts. Pay ranges from $19.68 to $25.28 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, with multiple shift schedules.

Responsibilities include meter reading, reading on request, installing sleeves, and ensuring accurate meter readings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years related meter reading and/or field operations experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Disconnect and reconnect electric and water services.
• Install sleeves on back terminal ends of meter.
• Accurately read water/electric meters and re-read upon customer requests.
• Re-check all disconnected utilities as needed.
• May perform duties of Field Service Technician I when required.
• May train new hires on field service operations.
• Other duties as assigned.
