Job summary

Beacon Clinic in Idaho is seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Prior Authorization - Urology to join our patient-focused team. You will schedule urology surgeries and pre/post operative appointments, manage prior authorizations, and coordinate with patients, providers, insurance companies, and hospital staff to ensure timely, compliant case flow.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of medical scheduling or insurance verification experience, familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Athena), and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years in medical scheduling, prior authorizations, or insurance verification.
• Experience in urology, surgical practice, or hospital scheduling preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Athena) and prior authorization platforms.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding basics, and payer policies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under time-sensitive conditions.
• HIPAA confidentiality awareness.

Responsibilities

• Schedule urology surgeries, elective procedures, and pre/postoperative appointments.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility.
• Initiate and complete prior authorization requests; follow up until resolution.
• Coordinate with urologists, nursing, OR staff, billing, and case management for readiness.
• Maintain tracking logs, scheduling checklists, and related documentation.
• Educate patients on pre-op instructions, arrival times, and testing requirements.
• Ensure compliance with payer, facility, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate last-minute changes and urgent authorizations as needed.
