Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year scheduling experience in a surgery center or medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
• Strong HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality awareness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Schedules office, surgery centers and hospital-based procedures with provider and time/location slots.
• Pre-authorizes surgeries through insurance companies and enters data into scheduling system.
• Maintains a surgical log for statistical analysis.
• Provides pre-surgical packets with dates and pre-operative instructions.
• Coordinates with facilities for equipment or personnel needs.
• Ensures pre-operative labs are ordered and tracked in the EMR.
• Audits the automated phone system daily to update call schedules.
• Verifies scheduling accuracy before publication.
• Interfaces with surgery center and hospital staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Treats patients and referring physicians with courtesy and respect; maintains confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to Health Policy and Compliance policies.
