Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support examination, treatment, and care planning under the direction of the provider.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking and documenting vitals, updating medication lists, performing basic lab tests, and assisting with procedures. This role may involve travel between AHN sites and requires compliance with HIPAA and AHN policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• MA program completion or 1 year of direct patient care.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34/33/73 background clearances.
• Certification within 120 days after hire.
• Accepted MA certifications: NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients; obtain vitals and document history.
• Perform back office testing following AHN protocols.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with training.
• Follow up with patients per provider instructions.
• Prepare exam rooms; maintain inventory of supplies.
• Sterilize instruments; perform lab controls.
• Document in EHR according to standards.
• May float between physician office locations.
