Job summary

UrgentVet is seeking a Full-Time Shift Lead to provide outstanding patient care, team leadership, and client service in a fast-paced urgent care clinic. The role supports the Practice Manager and Lead DVM, ensuring effective communication with staff, clients, and leadership across shifts.

The ideal candidate has veterinary experience, strong leadership and multitasking abilities, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service-type industry.
• Medical background with medical terminology training.
• Associate degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred.
• Six months of prior experience in a management position strongly preferred.
• Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring.
• Clinical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across all shifts to support clients, coordinate paraprofessional staff, and maximize productivity and profitability.
• Direct, plan, coordinate, and perform duties related to animal health and client education.
• Communicate effectively with clients, hospital team members, Field Leadership, and Support Center departments.
• Assign cases to veterinary assistants and resolve bottlenecks in medical operations.
• Assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and client experience exceptions.
• Train and mentor new paraprofessional staff and support inventory management.
