UrgentVet, Inc in Midlothian, VA is seeking a Full-Time Shift Lead to supervise paraprofessional staff and support the Practice Manager and Lead DVM. You will ensure high-quality patient care, coordinate across shifts, and drive efficient operations in a fast-paced urgent care clinic.

The role requires on-site presence, robust customer service, and a commitment to teamwork. Prior veterinary hospital experience and a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in healthcare, veterinary profession, or service-type industry.
• Associate degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred.
• Six months of prior experience in a management position strongly preferred.
• Animal handling experience including patient restraint, sample collection, and monitoring.
• Clinical skills including phlebotomy, catheter placement, laboratory analysis, and drug calculation.

Responsibilities

• Provide shift leadership and staff coordination.
• Support Practice Manager in hospital labor management, including adjusting team schedules.
• Create an environment for delivering quality, efficient veterinary care while fostering a positive team environment.
• Ensure effective communication between staff, clients, hospital leadership, and the Support Center.
• Assign cases to veterinary assistants and resolve bottlenecks in medical operations.
• Assist with client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments, and client experience exceptions.
• Train and mentor new paraprofessional staff.
• Address equipment issues and assist in inventory management.
