Job summary

Novant Health Urgent Care in Hilton Head Island, SC is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join our front office team. The PSR greets patients, assists with paperwork, maintains the sign-in sheet, and ensures the accuracy of patient demographics, enters charges into the system, and collects co-payments as needed.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalency, medical terminology knowledge, and is willing to work 12-hour shifts and weekends, with flexibility to work at

• Willing to work at other centers as needed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and ensures that the sign-in process is completed.
• Verifies patient insurance eligibility via telephone, fax, or Internet; collects co-payments.
• Answers incoming calls and schedules appointments as needed.
• Balances daily postings and takes deposits as needed.
• Copies patient medical records and sends them out when requested.
• Cleans counters, waiting area, and front office as needed.
• Assists in training new employees and maintains compliance with company policies.
• Completes PSR career development program within the first year of employment.
• Other duties as assigned.
