Job summary

Atrius Health, in Somerville, MA, seeks a Medical Assistant for our Urgent Care department. The role supports clinicians with exams, tests, and EMR documentation. Part-time schedule offers weekend hours (Sat-Sun, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM).

Required: High School diploma or Medical Assistant Certification; ACLS/BLS preferred. Prior clinical or customer service experience and EMR familiarity are a plus. Compensation ranges per hour with benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate or Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Certification in Medical Assisting preferred but not required for all candidates.
• ACLS and BLS certifications are preferred.
• Experience in a clinical or customer service setting is beneficial.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow and optimize appointment availability.
• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms.
• Prepare patients for examinations and measure vital signs.
• Assist clinicians with routine procedures and tests.
• Update EMR with test results and demographic information.
• Inform patients about visit status and delays.
• Reconcile medications and manage refills.
• Address patient concerns as appropriate.
• Order and perform waived point-of-care tests (strep, urine, hCG, glucose).
