Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to blend clinical care with front-desk duties in our fast-paced urgent care centers. You will greet and triage patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests, assist with procedures, and verify insurance eligibility while maintaining EMR accuracy.

The role requires completion of an accredited MA program, CMA/RMA/CCMA at hire, BLS, and 1+ year of insurance verification experience.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
Strong experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain before starting.
Urgent care or ER experience valued.
EMR proficiency; comfort with payer portals.

Responsibilities

Greet and triage patients; collect vitals and histories; venipuncture; CLIA-waived POC testing.
Assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, nebulizer therapy.
Register patients; verify insurance eligibility; determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays.
Educate patients on clinical procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions.
Participate in daily huddles; maintain compliance logs; support infection control and HIPAA standards.
