Job summary

American Family Care seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our urgent care clinics. You will blend clinical tasks with patient service, front-desk duties, and insurance verification to keep centers running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have CMA or equivalent certification, 1+ year experience with billing/registration, BLS, and comfort with EMR systems. Mandatory weekend/evening availability and adaptable, patient-first service are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred).
• Comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile logs, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions with empathy.
• Participate in daily huddles; maintain compliance logs; support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
