Job summary

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a motivated Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced team in San Antonio. You will support clinicians with exams, vitals, medications, and patient care, while also assisting in front-office tasks to keep the clinic running smoothly.

The role requires EMR/EHR proficiency, ability to perform blood draws, and competency in specimen handling plus adherence to CLIA and accreditation guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
• National certification (CMA/AMT/CCMA) or equivalent required.
• Alternate path: unapproved MA program plus national certification or documented 1 year of MA work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist provider with exams, including vitals and procedures, under supervision.
• Administer medications per policy and provider direction; follow safety protocols.
• Perform blood draws and urine collection for testing.
• Support front office as needed, manage patient flow and discharge processes.
• Proficiency in EMR/EHR; document accurately in LIS where applicable.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; maintain lab and CLIA compliance.
