Job summary

American Family Care seeks a Medical Assistant to greet patients, take vitals, collect specimens, perform CLIA-waived tests, and support front-desk tasks including insurance verification and registration.

The role requires completion of an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, at least 1 year of experience with insurance verification, BLS, EMR proficiency (Experity preferred), and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or emergency room experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals and histories, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
• Assist with insurance verification and patient registration; explain financial responsibilities.
• Educate patients on procedures and discharge instructions; provide empathetic communication.
• Maintain compliance logs and support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
