Job summary

University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Service Representative to be the first point of contact, delivering a welcoming and efficient patient experience. You will manage front-office operations, assist with administrative tasks, and support the clinic workflow in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The role emphasizes strong communication, confidentiality, and collaboration with the care team while handling insurance verification and patient billing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Administrative Assistant certificate a plus.
• 1+ year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and multitasking in a busy environment.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software, EPIC preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Warm welcome: Greet patients and visitors with a positive attitude.
• Patient and business documentation: Maintain confidentiality while organizing documents.
• Insurance verification: Verify eligibility and provide payment policies.
• Financial responsibility: Collect patients' financial responsibilities with clarity.
• Collaborative support: Assist staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Compliance: Follow HIPAA, OSHA and regulatory guidelines.
• Administrative duties: Perform office procedures and operate medical equipment.
• Quality assurance: Ensure compliance with QA programs and lab requirements.
• Travel requirement: Support staffing at other UH Urgent Care locations as needed.
