Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit and ensure seamless patient care in a community-focused environment. You will maintain medical records, transcribe orders, and act as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff, and visitors at the nursing station.

You will coordinate unit operations, schedule tests and transportation, and serve as a liaison for inquiries.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• 1 year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Transcribe medical orders accurately and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Serve as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Act as a liaison for inquiries and direct them to the appropriate person for resolution.
