Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit and deliver clerical support that enables safe, high-quality patient care. You will coordinate unit operations, schedule tests, and act as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff and visitors in a community-focused environment.

The role emphasizes accuracy in medical records, transcription of orders, and serving as a liaison at the nursing station within a nationwide inpatient rehabilitation leader.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program with familiarity with medical terminology and experience in reading and transcribing medical orders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.

• Accurately/efficiently transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
