Qualifications

• Professional Experience: Minimum of two years' practical experience in underground or heavy equipment service roles.
• Educational Background: Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or one year of post-secondary technical education.
• Underground Experience: Preference for prior underground mining experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex machinery.
• Physical and Mental Stamina: Ability to work in demanding underground conditions with safety focus.
• Effective Communication: Ability to read and interpret manuals and safety documents and communicate clearly.
• Continuous Learning: Willingness to engage in ongoing certification programs.

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Equipment Maintenance: Perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of underground mining machinery to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
• Advanced Diagnostic Analysis: Use diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Field Service Expertise: Travel to underground mining sites to perform on-site repairs and component replacements.
• Quality Assurance Testing: Conduct post-repair tests to verify equipment meets safety and manufacturer standards.
• Technical Documentation: Read schematics and manuals, especially for low voltage control systems.
• Mechanical Alignment: Align and calibrate motor couplings, gearboxes, and related assemblies to specs.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements in underground environments.
• Collaboration: Report findings and coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians.
