Job summary

WMCH Weirton Medical Center is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality sonographic procedures, including color Doppler and OB/GYN exams, in a clinical setting. The role requires RDMS/ARDMS certification, one specialty ARDMS cert, CPR within 30 days, and at least one year of experience.

The position involves cross-functional collaboration and adherence to safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• RDMS certification through ARDMS.
• One specialty ARDMS certification (ABD/OB-GYN/PS/RVT/Breast/MSK).
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Explains the test to the patient and assists with positioning.
• Maintains work area and ensures equipment safety; complies with safety standards.
• Produces high-quality ultrasound scans per protocols and physician orders; selects transducer and adjusts controls.
• Keeps up-to-date knowledge of scanning equipment to optimize image quality.
• Assists Radiologists with patient procedures.
• Maintains records and tracks electronic records; processes charges as required.
• Sends completed images to PACS.
• Keeps CME points updated for ARDMS and participates in in-service education.
• Provides direction and cross-training for technologists.
• Follows hospital/department policies and performs related duties.
• Performs sterile techniques to prevent cross-contamination and adheres to OSHA standards.
• Verifies patient information, pre-certification when required, notes and documents in RMS/PACS.
• Demonstrates understanding of growth and development and age-specific patient needs.
