Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Network & Systems Engineer to provide advanced engineering and operational oversight for a DoD contract at Fort Belvoir, VA. The role requires leading NOSC operations, architecture design, and strategic integration across enterprise networks and storage with DoD security baselines.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in networking, virtualization, storage, and ITSM, plus an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field with 4–8 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, network design, or IT operations management.
• Advanced, theoretical, and practical understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls), system virtualization, and enterprise storage networks.
• Proficiency in administering enterprise monitoring suites (SolarWinds), Active Directory architecture, and IT Service Management (ITIL/ITSM) frameworks.
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or higher prior to start.
• Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance at time of consideration.

Responsibilities

• Systems Analysis & Architecture: consult with DTRA leadership and mission partners to determine complex system specifications and roadmaps.
• Network & Systems Engineering: document, test, and modify network/server configurations and security baselines.
• Incident & Operational Leadership: serve as NOSC watch officer and lead diagnostic strategy for outages.
• Strategic Integration: provide input for process improvement and SLA-compliant workflows; evaluate vendor solutions in ServiceNow ITSM.
• Executive Advisory: present AARs and briefs to senior leadership; interface with mission partners and commands.
• Support Tier I–III personnel to ensure network troubleshooting.
• Oversee real-time monitoring of global networks using DoD-approved tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
• Develop and enforce operational procedures and escalation protocols.
• Prepare and deliver operational briefs and executive summaries to leadership.
