Job summary

XKIG in Birmingham, AL seeks a skilled Climber to join our vegetation management team. The role involves climbing, pruning, and removing trees under the Foreperson’s direction, with attention to safety and tool readiness.

Responsibilities include loading equipment, using hand and gas-powered saws, and performing storm-related tasks. Candidates should have strong knot/rigging knowledge and be able to travel for storm restoration work as needed.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
• Must be able to climb and descend trees using rope and safety saddle.
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; lift and feed brush into brush chipper.
• Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws.
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all assigned tools and equipment.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area by enforcing safe job practices, keeping work area clean and orderly, and communicating with co-workers.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
