ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overnight travel to distant markets to maintain and service vehicles will be required at the expense of Cox Automotive. Travel schedule will vary each week with a couple nights per week expected.
- Follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of vehicle equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Perform maintenance and repair of different classes of vehicles or specialized vehicles by troubleshooting hydraulic systems, diesel and gas systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance: change oil, filters, transmission flush, and inspect for mechanical deficiencies. Perform light and major repairs, advanced diagnostics, and interact directly with customers with high integrity and trust.
- Based on certification levels, perform various repairs including OBD II, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension, aerial lifts, electrical systems, safety inspections, engine and drive line components.
- Install, maintain, replace, and repair aftermarket equipment in vehicles.
- Perform complex repairs and diagnostics.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, perform work safely, and comply with all regulations.
- Inspect, test, and identify defective equipment using test instruments.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Stay updated on safety protocols and procedures.
- Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform job duties, understanding technical information.
- Communicate effectively with clients and support team, assessing needs and providing assistance.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
- Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, and behave professionally.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and follow-up repairs in a mobile environment.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to standards, upload pictures, and complete all documentation timely.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule.
- Obtain parts from vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management for approvals, purchase orders, and notes.
- Perform all work following safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations like OSHA, EPA, DOT.
- Participate in safety training.
- Maintain good relationships with customers and vendors.
- Adhere to policies, processes, and procedures.
- Overnight travel to distant markets as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of related experience, or alternative combinations with relevant certifications and fewer/more years of experience.
- Ability to obtain Master ASE and ASE 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
- Must pass DOT background screening and physical prior to employment.
- Valid DOT medical card or valid DOT physical within 4 months of expiration.
- Minimum age 21 due to interstate regulations.
- Valid driver’s license, with a 3-year MVR review.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Set of hand tools for job duties.
- Knowledge of vehicle systems, repair, and maintenance.
- Ongoing training to maintain ASE status and adapt to new technology.
- Knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements.
- Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of new information for decision-making.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform labor over long periods.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Additional certifications like A1-A8, T1-T8, ASE L1, L2, and diesel experience.

Hourly rate: $28.65 - $42.98. Compensation may include additional incentives or commissions.
