ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overnight travel to distant markets to service vehicles, at Cox Automotive's expense. Travel schedule varies weekly.
- Follow and comply with safety practices and procedures.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on company trucks, perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company vehicle, conduct safety checks, and inspections.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, and more.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on various vehicle classes, troubleshoot complex systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, light and major repairs, diagnostics, and customer interactions.
- Perform repairs based on certification levels, including systems like OBD II, brakes, tires, and more.
- Install, maintain, and repair aftermarket equipment.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards and regulations.
- Inspect and test equipment, use test instruments, and road test vehicles.
- Stay updated on safety protocols.
- Apply technical knowledge, communicate effectively with clients and team members.
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively.
- Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, adhere to standards.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and follow-up repairs in a mobile environment.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work, upload pictures, complete DOT forms accurately.
- Work independently, manage schedule, obtain parts, communicate with management.
- Ensure safety, participate in safety training.
- Build good relationships with customers and vendors.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess or obtain Master ASE certification, and ASE 608/609 within 18 months.
- Pass DOT background screening and physical; hold a valid DOT medical card.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and clean MVR.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Knowledge of vehicle engines, parts, systems, and repairs.
- Ongoing training to maintain ASE status and adapt to technology changes.
- Knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements.
- Logical reasoning, problem-solving, safety awareness, effective communication, attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OEM training and certifications.
- Additional certifications like A1-A8, T1-T8, ASE L1, L2, and diesel experience.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor conditions, moderate noise.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb.
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
Compensation: $28.65 - $42.98/hour, with potential additional incentives.
