ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel overnight to distant markets to service vehicles. Travel schedule varies weekly, with a couple of nights expected.
- Follow and comply with safety practices and procedures.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair vehicle equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, AC, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on various vehicle classes, troubleshooting hydraulic, diesel, gas, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computers.
- Perform preventive maintenance like oil changes, filter replacements, transmission flushes, and vehicle inspections. Conduct light and major repairs, and perform advanced diagnostics. Interact with customers professionally and uphold integrity and trust.
- Depending on certification, perform repairs including OBD II, brakes, tires, tune-ups, suspension, lifts, electrical, safety inspections, engine, and drivetrain components.
- Install, maintain, replace, and repair aftermarket vehicle equipment.
- Perform complex repairs and diagnostics.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, follow safety standards, and comply with regulations.
- Inspect and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose issues and ensure proper operation.
- Stay updated on safety protocols.
- Apply training and experience to perform job duties, understanding technical information.
- Communicate effectively with clients and support teams, providing assistance and resolving issues.
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively.
- Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to professional standards.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile environment.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to standards, upload pictures, and complete repair orders using company devices.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
- Work independently, managing your schedule.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management for approvals, purchase orders, and notes.
- Follow safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Participate in safety training.
- Build and maintain good relationships with customers and vendors.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Travel overnight as required, at Cox Automotive's expense.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' related experience, or equivalent combination of education/certification and experience.
- Possess or obtain Master ASE and ASE 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT-regulated background check and physical.
- Valid DOT medical card or equivalent documentation.
- At least 21 years old due to interstate regulations.
- Valid driver's license and a clean 3-year MVR review.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Knowledge of vehicle engines, parts, and systems.
- Ongoing training to maintain ASE status and adapt to new technology.
- Knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements.
- Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely and communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OEM training and certifications.
- Additional certifications like A1-A8 or T1-T8.
- ASE L1 and L2 certifications.
- Diesel experience.
Work and Physical Environment:
- Outdoor conditions, moderate noise.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, perform physical tasks, and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
Hourly pay ranges from $28.65 to $42.98, with potential additional compensation. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, and other leave options.
